Workplace Health and Safety Officer (WHSO) Authorisation

This course will provide participants with information and skills that will assist WHSOs to carry out their role and functions under the WHS legislation including:

• an understanding of the work health and safety (WHS) legislation;
  
• an understanding of how it applies to their role; and
  
• the knowledge and skills necessary assist employers to meet their obligations under the WHS legislation.

Participants who demonstrate competency by passing both the theory and practical assessments will receive a Certificate of Authority will be issued by APS Training Group.

A person appointed as a WHSO by a PCBU is required to undertake this training and receive a certificate of appointment by Workplace Health and Safety Queensland or have an equivalent qualification.

The electives are based on industry needs for participants: ie Construction, Industrial, Service or Rural/Agriculture.
