Provide First Aid–HLTAID011

If you want to feel completely prepared to handle first aid in a variety of scenarios, APS Training Group offers an in-depth first aid course, which includes CPR training.

This comprehensive course is suitable for workers in all industries and anyone in the general public who wants to become proficient in the management of a casualty in emergency situations. It supersedes HLTAID011– Provide First Aid.

This unit teaches the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty and any community or workplace setting. Participants will learn how to:

  • Identify, assess & minimise hazards in a situation that may pose a risk of injury or illness to self or others
  • Use available resources & equipment to make the casualty as comfortable as possible
  • Provide first aid management in accordance with established first aid principles & Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines

Assessment is delivered in the form of short answer and multiple-choice theory questions, performance tasks and simulated practical scenarios utilising a CPR manikin and first aid equipment.

Students who have never completed a first aid course or have not participated in a course for over 4 years will need to complete a workbook (provided alongside a first aid manual) prior to the course and bring it completed to the training session.

Participants must show they are physically capable of performing uninterrupted CPR for at least 2 minutes on an adult CPR manikin placed on the floor.
