Crowd Control Refresher for QLD Security Licensing

As a licensed bodyguard or crowd controller, you must stay up to date with the latest industry standards and techniques. This is called ongoing training. You will need to complete ongoing training every 3 years.

These modules will be:

  • very important for your work
  • constantly updated to stay up-to-date with the latest industry standards and techniques.

When you received your licence, you should have received expiry dates for each ongoing training unit on the licence notice. You must complete these ongoing training units again before the due date.

The Office of Fair Trading  not recognise any prior learning for these units.

From 21 January 2020, the modules for ongoing training for crowd controllers and bodyguards are:

CPPSEC3121 – Control persons using empty handed techniques

CPPSEC3101:

  1. Identify and assess conflict situation and select response option.
  2. Negotiate conflict resolution.
  3. Report, evaluate and improve conflict response procedures.

CPPSEC3121:

  1. Assess need to use empty hand techniques and response options.
  2. Apply defensive empty hand techniques.
  3. Restrain and isolate subject.
  4. Finalise and evaluate response.

Participants who demonstrate competency by passing both the theory and practical assessments will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment issued by APS Training Group in CPPSEC3101, CPPSEC3121 that is valid for 3 years (renewed every 36 months).

Specific licensing requirements relating to this competency should be checked with your relevant state security industry authority.

Students must hold a Certificate II or III in Security Operations.
Participants should possess adequate (Year 10 level) reading, writing, numeracy and comprehension skills to complete learning and assessment activities.
